methi

given an option i would love go buy fresh seasonal vegetables in the morning...and cook them up...the freshness of food is one of the ingredients that enhance flavour...however, i am too lazy yet....even though there is a nice mandi....within an effortful walking distance from my home...and i am not a morning person........

so a few days ago i bought some pumpkin, petha i think it is called in hind....thinking i would make some pumpkin soup...but there is also some fresh methi, and since it is seasonal....am thinking of marrying the two...

if methi can go with aloo....why not petha....which has a rich sweet...buttery denseness to offset the slight piquant bitterness of methi....and it would look so lovely together....hmmmm...my mouth waters....

matthi..or mathris.

i am also thinking of making some matthis.....i got some outside the railway station in haridwar, on my recent trip...and they were oily as hell and just not up to par....so am thinking ..using some of the methi for mathis...and instead of frying them.....make them more healthy by baking them

will check with my mom for baking temperatures....she makes some delicious almond biscuits...which come out dense and crisp......somewhat like mathri no.....flour...fat....and salt instead of sugar.....

  1. Love the methi...the methi matthi...back home we never let our supply of methi matthis go low, had to have them with tea in the evenings...and methi aloo with parathe, yogurt and freshly churned butter, yum! Slurp slurp...my Mom also chops the methi and mixes them with the dough (both wheat and corn) and makes parathas...my mouth waters yet again...

the methi and corn paranthas wow..that is something i have not heard of....interestingly..never combined methi and allo in paranthas..i had another friend that suggest it to me...must try..so far it has only been aloo stuffed paranthas...or a little methi kneaded in the dough for a plain parantha...

and freshly churned butter sounds ....yummy....though have not really had that ...ever i think....

i have a question....can i put fresh methi in paranthas.....and mathi or does it have to be dry....any insight on this....

gosh it's breakfast time for me...and my mouth is watering toooo.....thanx so much for visiting...

the mathis turned out lovely...much better than i thought they would....will share more on that...in a post...

nice to see you here .....i love the aroma of methi..and found the thought of plucking so many leaves so daunting....but it really is not all that difficult..the leaves are bunched together at the top ;p.....
    perhaps on a weekend.....sitting on you patio....listening to music...do try....once in a while....you will enjoy it....very therapeutic

    so sharing recipe's......

that is something i would love....now how to do it....i thought what ever recipes i share here...i would have cooked myself at least once...so do so share....

or perhaps you could write a post........

but am open to suggestions....perhaps, to start with you could mail them and i could try them out..and then post them up here.......so they can be tagged and found....at ease by a search based on ingredients.....

    what do you think..
